Contributing to increasing energy efficiency with mycelium insulation at the INBUILT Project

INBUILT Project partners in Nice.

We are excited to share our participation in The Horizon Europe Project INBUILT which aims to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings throughout their entire lifecycle by introducing innovative products and systems, one of which is MykoFoam, our insulation.

MykoFoam falls under the category of bio-based recycled and low-carbon thermal and acoustic insulation sheet panels, offering a unique solution to the challenges of traditional insulation methods and increasing energy efficiency. We will test different building applications through demo projects using our product to support the development and validation of innovative sustainable building materials and technologies.

Partnering with design and research organisation Material Cultures we will be the manufacturer supplying materials for the retrofit of an early 20th century industrial building in Ladywood, Birmingham that will be transformed into an educational community space for not-for-profit organisation Civic Square.

The project, funded by the EU’s research and innovation programme Horizon Europe, will be running from December 2023 to May 2027 and is coordinated by the Université Côte d´Azur. This project emphasises a shift from traditional construction models to more sustainable and efficient methods and we, along with ten different innovative solutions, are pioneering a net-zero future starting from our buildings.

INBUILT also aims to integrate a digital platform employing a Building Information Modelling (BIM)-based approach, which will be responsible for streamlining the construction project´s entire lifecycle.
